Stefan Burchardt

Stefan Burchardt, born in Odense in 2003, is a young Danish violinist who began playing the violin at the age of four. He made his debut as a soloist with the Odense Symphony Orchestra in 2011 and has since established a career as both a soloist and chamber musician. Stefan has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Odense Symphony Orchestra, and Sønderborg Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared at prestigious venues including the Berliner Philharmonie’s Chamber Hall, Beethoven Haus Bonn, Carl Nielsen Hall in Denmark and Bulgaria Hall in Sofia.

In May 2025, Stefan won both the Grand Prize and 2nd Prize, as well as the Gèza Anda Foundation Award at the International Cantus Firmus Competition in Sofia, Bulgaria, where he performed with the Sophia Philharmonic Orchestra in the final round.

He has received numerous accolades, including first prizes at the Flame Concours Paris, the Hans Schauble Prize (2020), Øresunds Solist (2019), and JuMu (2019), as well as the Talent Prize and Gold Medal at the Berlingske Music Competition. Additionally, he was a prize winner in the Eugene Ysaÿe Competition in 2019 and finalist in the L. v. Beethoven Competition in Berlin.

Stefan began his musical education at the age of five under Alexandre Zapolski in Copenhagen, studying there for nearly a decade, including time at MGK Copenhagen. He later worked with teachers such as Helge Slaatto and Sergey Azizian. At the age of 13, he was accepted into the Julius Stern Institute at the Universität der Künste Berlin under Professor Latica Honda-Rosenberg. In 2019, at the age of 16, he commenced his bachelor studies with Professor Honda-Rosenberg. After completing his bachelor’s degree in Berlin, he relocated to Lausanne, Switzerland, where he is currently pursuing a master’s degree at HeMu under Prof. Svetlana Makarova, as well as in Vienna with Prof. Pavel Vernikov.

Stefan has also been featured at festivals like the Kronberg Academy, Aurora Festival, Old Ox Sweden, and Encuentro de Santander. In 2019, he won 1st prize at Jugend Musiziert in Germany and was the same year awarded the Hermann Abs-Prize for the best interpretation of a piece by L. V. Beethoven, where he was invited to perform in the “Beethoven Haus” Hall in Bonn, Germany. The concert was recorded and broadcast on German radio by WDR for the “Beethoven Year 2019.”

Other accolades include recognition as an “EMCY” Soloist, and in 2017, he was named Denmark’s “Wunderkind” on Danish Radio’s “Wonderkids.”

Stefan is also an enthusiastic chamber musician who has performed a wide variety of chamber music pieces with well-established musicians such as Hartmut Rohde, Bruno Philippe, Ensemble Midtvest, Jonian Ilias Kadesha, and Alissa Margulis.

He has received essential inspiration through masterclasses with prominent teachers such as Dora Schwarzberg, Pavel Vernikov, Zakhar Bron, Olivier Charlier (Paris Conservatoire), Maciej Rakowski (Royal College, London), Alf Richard Kraggerud (Barratt Due Musikkinstitutt, Oslo), Malin Broman (Stockholm, Sweden), amongst others. Driven by his passion for music, he continues to work on his abilities both technically and musically.
